One Step At A Time
ONE STEP AT A TIME
Easy to say; much harder to do.
How often have we heard people say that they try to live one day at a time (or in some cases, one minute at a time), athletes say things like one game at a time or one shot at a time and so on? Once again easy to say but much harder to do.For me, living and playing this way was a learned skill but one that, for the most part, I can manage today. I needed someone to coach me and stay in touch then point out when I was living in the future or thinking way too far ahead and not living the moment.
My mentor, Dr. Randin Brons, shared some thoughts on this in his "Idea Engineer".
One step at a time
"What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step." -- Antoine De Saint-Exupery
Does the prospect of changing and growing seem monumental to you? Just too much to tackle?
Then consider this approach. Take a simple step of affirming your openness to experience more or something new. Or a different first step might be to let go of judgment by embracing the neutral. Begin to see the people, activities and things around you as neither good nor bad.
A journey is made of many small steps. Don't focus on a far-off destination if you're not clear how to get there. Build a foundation that is solid for you. We get to new places one step at a time.
"You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." -- Martin Luther King, Jr.
"One may walk over the highest mountain one step at a time." -- John Wanamaker
Give these words some very serious thought. They may be the key to internal peace and serenity for you. If you can, share your thoughts here and at any time, feel free to contact me through www.coached-to-success.com or www.hopeserenity.ca. You might find this a great first step to the life you want!
